Just because you're a grown-up doesn't mean you can't have fun with glitter. Choose just one feature to gleam up, and follow this guide: Glitter (those big, shiny flecks) belongs on the eyes; iridescence (a sheen that changes shade in the light) on the cheekbones; and shimmer (itty bitty light-reflective particles) on the eyes or lips.

For just the right amount of dazzle, sweep a shiny shadow on your lids and a similar shade of matte shadow in the creases. "The contrasting textures balance the look," says makeup artist Amy Nadine, who works with Kate Bosworth. She swears by these ultra-flattering combos: pewter and dove gray if you have fair skin; gold and brown on medium skin; and shimmery plum and burgundy for dark skin. Then line your top lashes with black pencil for an extra dose of sexy.

A liquid highlighter picks up party lights in all the right ways. "Just a touch of it will illuminate your entire face and give you a youthful glow," says Chanel makeup artist Rachel Goodwin, who works with Emma Stone. After you apply your blush (make it a matte one), tap a tiny dot of highlighter along each cheekbone and down the bridge of your nose, and blend with a damp makeup sponge. A pearly color like E.L.F. Radiance Enhancer in Spotlight, , is perfect for fair skin, and a champagne shade is is great for medium and dark skin.
At the end of the night, your regular makeup remover should be able to tackle any type of glittery formula. But if a few stubborn flecks just won't budge, Goodwin says that lightly pressing a loop of Scotch tape on your skin will lift those suckers right off.
